Hello Clyo! Could you describe yourself to our readers that don’t know you yet?
Hi Everybody! I am a smiling girl who likes to move and I live life at 100%. I love traveling, meeting new people, doing sports and of course, I am addicetd to kitesurfing… and chocolate!
How did you start kiteboarding?
I was born near the sea in a family of fishermen and sailors, I spent my childhood feet in the water with friends and cousins; so even though I got into it later, the way to kiteboarding was not very hard to find.
My father was already kiting for quite a few years when I asked him to teach me (thank you dad!). I got into it gently. That’s when I arrived in Caen and started freestyle that it became a true passion. Since then, kiting is all my life. It made me aware of what was really important to me at a time I was wondering who I was and I going in any direction : Living near the sea, ride as often as possible and travel : the BASE!
Who is your biggest inspiration within the kitesurfing industry?
Waaahhh, hard to name just one!! I love Colleen Carroll. She has a pure style, looks humble and funky and sends it on modules. Obviously, the Karolina-Bruna-Gisela trio is a source of inspiration! Annelous Lammerts too. She progressed a lot lately and humanely, she looks great. Among the guys. I could say Marc Jacobs, Tom Court, Youri Zoon… but I am not sure to be completely objective ^^.
But what really boosts me is to ride with the homies. When everyone is hot and it scream in every way to encourage. As in competitions or events; these are particular atmosphere that I would like to find more. My last trip to Martinique was perfect for that! The sun, wind and pals (including Anne Soras and Camille Reliquet) who send it! Having friends and girlfriends who goes big in front of you nose, there is nothing better for progression.
Of all the places you have visited, which is your favorite for kiting and where do you dream to go?
I will not be very original but Brazil win the gold medal! Perfect spots, constant wind : what else!!!
If we talk about culture, Sri Lanka offers truly magical scenery, lots to discover and really nice people (in addition to a great kite spot). Now, I would like to go to New Zealand, Tarifa, Greece, Zanzibar, Keny, Australia but I want to go first in the Philippines. Proriders have made me dream this winter with images of Palawan, flat spots, turquoise water and the modules!
What do you choose between a stormy session with rain and cold weather or a nice, beautiful day with your bikini and light wind?
I’d be princessy but clearly I choose the sunny day with light wind! It is so awesome when you can ride for 6 hours a day in your bikini! Yet, I assure you that in Normandy, I am serve with storms, rains, etc.
What trick do you dream to land?
The BJ 7, I work hard on it right now… (in my dreams):p! Seriously, I am in a phase where I land nothing… Sniff! But I don’t give up and I try to train in all sorts of conditions. It will pay sooner or later! Landing a S bend pass and back to wrap would be perfect!
What is your biggest achievement so far?
Kite or in real life?
For kiting, I’d say my 5th place at the France freestyle championship of last year is a success and a pleasant surprise because I did not really feel legitimate in going there. And it allows me tu meet a lot of cool chicks who share the same passion.
In life… it’s a difficult question! I would say that being where I am today, to have a job that I like, to be able to kite, go on a trip, to be ultra happy in fact is a big achievement! The goal now is to progress further in kiteboarding and to continue to enjoy life!
What do you like to do besides kiteboarding?
Spend some time near the sea with friends, wait for the wind to pick up, (try to) surf, to party (with moderation… or not) and go to the cable park! I didn’t go a lot last year but today I am over motivated and I want to have fun the modules with my kite!
What are your plans for the next months?
The upcoming months are pretty undecided for now! I would like to ride a lot in the next months and do a lot of competitions to progress more but I am a bit stuck with my job. I did a request to be off 5 months and go riding aboard. I am waiting for the answer. It will therefore depend very much on that. I try to not get too excited about it but it would be paradise to kite a lot during 5 months on the best spots! In the more immediate future, the French competitions : Trip N’Kite in Gravelines, the Wake Air Contest, the Kite Cup in Hourtain, and of course, the NKB Invitational in Leucate on May 28-29 so I can ride with Aaron Hadlow!!
Who among your kite girl friends should be our next Miss Stance?
Without hesitation, Laura Jaubert is a golden girl! We met in the France Championship in Dunkerque and we clicked. Hopefully we will ride together soon again, especially since she begins to have a serious level on the water and she just hit a 9th place at the World Tour stop in Leucate!! Big up Laura!!
